"When we learn how to be true to ourselves, we will also transform our capacity to serve, to create, and to produce results." W.R.Whitten
About the Course
Self Esteem is the way we perceive our own true worth, and it has its roots in our childhood.
Early on, we learn to qualify our sense of our own personal value, making it conditional on the
favorable regard of our families. Our self esteem becomes tied to certain achievements. It might
even be withheld altogether.
Consequently, we may grow up to achieve much success in our lives, while denying ourselves the
sense of satisfaction that should have come with it. Our self esteem still depends on our next
success or failure.
A common effect is a sense of having 'missed something', of spending life on a kind of treadmill,
or of living a life that lacks real excitement, meaning or purpose.
Self Esteem Enhancement shows you how to redefine the way you value yourself. It teaches you
how to distinguish true self esteem from the cycle of punishments and rewards to which it has
become attached. And it shows you how to access your full power and potential so you can
create more of what you really want, both for yourself and others.
What the course is like.
Self Esteem Enhancement is usually taught in small groups of 6-15 people.
The atmosphere is supportive, friendly and safe, and is designed to facilitate exploration and
sharing.
The skills you learn are simple and effective and taught step by step, with help available whenever
you need it.
Audio tapes are provided at each session for you to keep. These sum up the course material and
support further practice when the course is over.
Origin of the material
Self Esteem Enhancement is a synthesis of contemporary psychology and traditional spiritual and
philosophical teachings. It is based on the principles of the The Life Training Program, which was
developed by two men dedicated to supporting positive change in the world.
Dr. K. Bradford Brown is the founder of the Institute for Family and Human Relations in Los
Gatos, California, where he practiced as a psychotherapist and a consultant to the international
organizations. His partner W. Roy Whitten, M. Div., has a background in adult education and
family counselling, and a degree in theology and psychology.
The course work which they developed together is both radically new and very ancient in that it
seeks to put people in touch with the truth of their lives, rather than promote a set of doctrines or
beliefs.
Self Esteem Enhancement is taught in homes, businesses, schools, colleges, service organizations,
and public institutions around the world by qualified teachers who together make up the world's
largest program for the development of self esteem.

What it offers
There is a natural self respect we all experience when we are at our best: a sense of inner
confidence, creativity and enthusiasm for ourselves and others.
Self Esteem Enhancement shows you how to contact this healthy inner self regard, and how to get
in touch with it again whenever you want to.
You learn a natural way to access your full potential, without driving yourself, or creating
unnecessary stress.
You know how to maintain your sense of yourself, no matter what else may be happening around
you at the time.
You are more able to receive critical feedback, and to use it for your own advantage.
You develop a deeper connection with those close to you, and the skills to help them enhance
their own self esteem.
What others have said
This course benefits different people in different ways. Here are some that have been frequently
mentioned:
Ehnanced personal satisfaction
"I had spent my whole life scoring achievements: academic success, a high-paying job, a good
address. Now I have something I never had before: a sense of satisfaction. I know how I can be
absolutely happy in any circumstances, and work has become something plesurable instead of
something I have to do to prove how good I am."
Enhanced partnering skills
"For the first time, I realized that I am the one who is responsible for the way I feel at all times
and in all circumstances. I now know I can alter the way I am feeling, the minute I become aware
of demands I am making on myself. The effect of this is most obvious in the way I behave toward
others. As I become more secure with myself I become more accepting of them, and they in turn
have been trusting me in a way I have never known before."
Enhanced inner motivation
"This is a learning experience which allows you the space to think about what you are doing, and
what you actually want to do. They don't necessarily match."
By deciding to do the course, I have opened up the possibility for more happiness than I thought
possible."
"I became aware that choice in my life really is mine."
